About the role:

Location: Hybrid, Aberdeenshire

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Reporting to the HSEQ + People Director, the Group HSEQ Manager is responsible for managing the Global HSEQ Management System as well as implementing and maintaining global HSEQ accreditations. The role involves developing, implementing and maintaining HSEQ policies, procedures and programs to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, industry standards and best practice. Additionally, the Group HSEQ Manager will play a key role in leading the Company's transition to Net Zero emissions and advancing sustainability initiatives. 

The role will require close collaboration with management and operational teams to promote a culture of safety, quality and environmental responsibility, driving continuous improvement in HSEQ performance.

The Group HSEQ Manager will be required to travel to various sites and international locations on occasion.


About the team:

Becoming part of the wider HSEQ & HR Team, you will report into our HSEQ + People Director, Kerry, and work with key stakeholders and all departments across the business. Our HSEQ function plays a massive role in ensuring everyone connected with Motive Offshore Group can carry out their role efficiently, safely and in a positive manner. This role will be a key contributor to continuing that.

And you’ll be working alongside a committed and proud Motive team in the UK and globally that want to play their part in the growth of the business and support each other daily to create a positive, values driven and hard-working professional environment.


Responsibilities: 

People

  • Adopting and promoting the Motive Offshore Group People Values and ensuring their use is embedded throughout day-to-day tasks and decision making.
  • Develop strong working relations with key stake-holders – clients, colleagues etc.
  • To be a positive ambassador for Motive Offshore Group Ltd.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Engage with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, clients, and suppliers, to ensure effective communication and compliance with HSEQ and sustainability requirements, ensuring the HSEQ + People Director is kept informed at all times.
  • Provide HSEQ support during tenders, contract negotiations and execution of projects
  • Act as primary point of contact for HSEQ and sustainability-related matters within the Company 

Planet

Net-Zero & Sustainability Leadership:

  • Develop and lead the implementation of the Company's strategy to achieve net-zero emissions, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement energy efficiency, waste reduction, and carbon offset initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on sustainability performance, setting and tracking key metrics related to environmental impact, resource use, and carbon footprint.
  • Engage with stakeholders to promote sustainability awareness and practices across the Company, including training and education initiatives.
  • Stay informed of emerging trends, technologies, and regulations related to sustainability and climate change, ensuring the Company remains at the forefront of best practices

Product

HSEQ Leadership & Strategy:

  • Provide leadership, line management and guidance to the HSEQ team, ensuring consistency in approach and adherence to corporate standards.
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of HSEQ policies, procedures, and management systems across the group.
  • Support the HSEQ + People Director with the development of the Group HSEQ strategy and ensure it is implemented across the business

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure the Company remains compliant with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure effective control measures are in place.
  • Manage, investigate and monitor HSEQ-related incidents, investigations, and corrective actions, ensuring root causes are identified and addressed.
  • Overall responsibility for gaining and maintaining approvals to ISO 9001 and ISO45001 and any additional applicable accreditations such as LEEA and IRATA.
  • Review annually, or whenever there are significant changes to legislative or regulatory requirements or significant changes in working practices, the Health & Safety, Environmental Protection and Quality and other Policies.

Training & Development:

  • Design and deliver HSEQ training and competency programs to employees at all levels, ensuring they are aware of their responsibilities and equipped to work safely and efficiently.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices, and ensure continuous professional development, mentoring and coaching for the HSEQ team.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Assist the HSEQ + People Director with the development and maintenance of HSEQ performance metrics, KPIs, and dashboards to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports for the HSEQ + People Director, highlighting key HSEQ performance indicators, trends, and areas of concern.
  • Coordinate and participate in management reviews of the HSEQ system and performance.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging feedback and ideas from all levels of the organization to enhance HSEQ and sustainability performance.
  • Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce waste, ensuring that environmental sustainability is a key consideration in all activities.

Incident Management & Emergency Response:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Coordinate the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near-misses, ensuring timely reporting and thorough analysis.

Required skills / knowledge:

  • Chartered member of IOSH preferred
  • Professional certification in HSEQ (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 9001/14001/45001 Lead Auditor). Certification in Sustainability or Environmental Management is a plus.
  • Sufficient & relevant experience in a senior HSEQ role, preferably within a multi-site or group environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of HSEQ regulations, standards, and best practices, as well as experience with sustainability and net-zero initiatives.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing HSEQ management systems and sustainability strategies.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to influence and drive change.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
