About the role:

Location: Offshore/UK/Global 

Hours: Variable based on set contract


As a Lead Offshore Inspector, you will be responsible for the completion of our inspection services including but not limited to Lifting Gear Surveys, Load Testing, Wire Rope Inspection and NDT Inspection and has the required experience and technical knowledge to complete and supervise a range of Inspection Services within the timelines set. 


These Inspection Services may be completed either individually or by leading a team of other Inspectors whilst commissioning and operating equipment for on-site inspection services that commission and operate equipment in a safe, competent and professional manner, while working side-by-side with the client & Motive Offshore Group departments.

As a part of our Certification & Inspection team, you’ll become part of a small, hardworking, and skilled team who are used to working collaboratively and to high standards. you'll be supported by our Technical Authority and Operations teams in Kintore, who care deeply about what they do & the impact they have on the services we provide. 


As part of our offshore team, you will take on responsibilities such as becoming the focal point, building relationships and communicating with clients during projects as well supporting our teams by mentoring and coaching while on the job.


You will also be working alongside a committed and proud Motive team in the UK and globally, who want to play their part in the growth of the business and support each other daily to create a positive, values-driven professional environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Adopting the Motive Offshore Group People Values and ensuring their use is embedded throughout day-to-day tasks and decision making.
  • Responsible for the completion of inspection services and the report package.
  • Lead, coach and mentoring personnel and management of equipment
  • Ensure inspections and reporting is completed as per company procedures.
  • Carry out LOLER surveys, capable of leading initial and follow up surveys.
  • Ability to perform load testing utilising waterbags and solid weights.
  • Perform NDT, dimensional and functional inspection of equipment related to oil and gas industry and renewable sector, management of equipment and personnel.
  • Select, calibrate, or operate equipment used in the non-destructive testing of products or materials. 
  • Where qualified, carry out spooling activities such as wire rope and cable removal, change out and installation.
  • Where qualified, carry out various rope access works, including the rig up and inspect rope access equipment prior to and during use.
  • Where qualified, carry out visual and NDT examination of all types and construction of high-performance wire rope.
  • Dealing with clients, ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with the company policies and procedures, complying to all Company Safety, Environmental and Quality Policies and Procedures.
  • Responsible for the overall safety of themselves and all others, overseeing other Inspectors to ensure inspections and reporting is completed as per company procedures.
  • Supervision and onsite training of less experienced Inspectors, assist with on-going personnel competency.
  • Use of Motion Kinetic Software to produce good quality inspection reports ready to send to customers.
  • Complete Daily Client Service Record Forms in full, with accurate times and descriptions obtaining signed approval from the client.
  • Stocktake equipment on arrival at worksite, communicating any anomalies and or damage to the client and Operations Team .
  • Demobilise equipment at the worksite and prepare for shipping, completing any necessary cargo manifests.
  • Travelling to worldwide destinations as and when required.
  • To be a positive ambassador for Motive Offshore Group Ltd.


Required skills / knowledge:

  • Relevant Load Testing experience, along with NDT & Lifting Gear Inspection experience
  • LEEA Foundation (FOU) Part 1 Entry Exam
  • LEEA General (LAC) Lifting Accessories Course 
  • Magnetic Particle Inspection Level 2
  • Dye Penetrant Testing Level 2
  • Rope Access - Any Level
  • Good communication skills with the ability to prioritise.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio)
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Offshore Survival & UKOOA Offshore Medical
  • BOSIET & MIST
  • Bi-Deltoid Shoulder Measurement
