About the role:

Location: Kintore, Aberdeenshire

Hours: Variable based on set contract

As a Trainee Inspector, you will provide operational support to Motive Certification and Inspection to ensure smooth transition and running of active jobs and verify that all tasks are completed as per the Work in Progress list. The Trainee Inspector will ensure all work is carried out in compliance with relevant HSEQ guidelines.

This is a 2-year fixed term contract, where you will gain the experience and knowledge of working in our Certification & Inspection workshop, and exposure to working on offshore projects. 

This is an opportunity for the right person to begin their career within an Inspection environment but also contribute to the growth of this part of our business. The goal is for the successful person to build up their experience of working offshore to be ready & qualified, at the company's expense, to move to an Offshore contract.


About the team:

As a part of our Certification & Inspection team, you’ll become part of a small, hardworking, and skilled team who are used to working collaboratively and to high standards. you'll be supported by our Technical Authority and Operations teams in Kintore, who care deeply about what they do & the impact they have on the services we provide.

Responsibilities:

People

  • Adopting the Motive Offshore Group People Values and ensuring their use is embedded throughout day-to-day tasks and decision making.
  • Develop strong working relations with key stake-holders – clients, colleagues etc.
  • Liaising and building relationship with the client whilst at the worksite.

Planet

  • HSEQ – compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations, and the company’s management system.
  • Adherence to client safe working practices and quality assurance systems
  • To be a positive ambassador for Motive Offshore Group Ltd.

Product

  • Providing general assistance within the workshop and yard areas.
  • Preparing works orders and packing equipment for work scopes, sale items.
  • Assisting with the necessary pre and post checks of equipment being mobilised / demobilised
  • Preparing wire rope samples for destruction testing
  • Maintaining spooling equipment
  • Attending toolbox talks, project briefings & de-briefings.
  • Attending client inductions / HIRA’s as and when required.
  • Completing online client inductions and training as and when required.
  • Be available to travel client sites onshore, offshore and overseas at short notice when required.
  • When capable, be part of inspection teams carrying out routine surveys and inspections of lifting equipment and their accessories and with immediate reporting of defects or concerns
  • When capable, be part of inspection teams carrying out various rope access works such as structural NDT, fabric maintenance, hose inspections in a safe and efficient manner.  
  • When capable, carry out spooling activities such as wire rope and cable removal, change out and installation, assist with MRT scopes.
  • When capable, carry out visual, and NDT examination and pressure lubrication of all types of high-performance wire ropes in accordance with working procedures and COSHH assessments.
  • Participating in internal and external training courses where identified.
  • Complete internal competency modules as required. 
  • Assist lead technicians / team leads compiling inspection reports, use of inspection software.
  • Completing timesheets in full, with accurate times and descriptions obtaining signed approval from the client.
  • Handing in project paperwork and expenses to C&I Operations Team in a timely manner post project.
  • Driving personnel to and from airport or client premises, delivery and picking up goods


Required skills / knowledge:

  • Clean driving license.
  • Working towards suitable NDT certification (PCN Level II).
  • Working towards offshore certification.
  • Planning and Operational knowledge.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise.
  • Must be safety conscious and apply a good quality approach to their work.
